Named Best Word Game of 1997 by Games magazine, Fundex’s A to Z game certainly runs the gamut of high-pressure alphabet fun. Each team is supplied with a plastic tray containing indentations for each letter of the alphabet, as well as a supply of transparent chips. Dice are rolled to select a timer setting (15 or 30 seconds) and a category from among 336 possibilities, such as Superheroes or Card Games. Set the timer and start covering letters on your board as you announce responses appropriate to the category–cover the A and B with chips by saying “Aquaman” and “Batman,” for example. Fill your tray and win the game, but watch out: some rounds allow opposing teams to remove chips from your board. The A to Z game is a blast, but you may want to set up some house rules; for example, in the category Hard Liquor, would you allow bourbon, scotch, rye, and whiskey when the first three are all types of the fourth? –Tony Mason
We first purchased this game at a flea market. Not knowing any thing about it, we took it home to see if it was all there. We had our adult children come in for Thanksgiving and we coupled up on teams to play. Men against women. It was a BLAST! Men can really be competitive working together. Lots of laughs and quality family time! In fact, I had to search Amazon to purchase them the game for Christmas by demand. I mailed it to Michigan and my daughter can’t wait to play it! Highly recommend this game. Some questions are challenging, but very well worth it.

I bought this game on the strength of the reviews and am quite pleased. Everyone enjoys it. This one is simple and easy to learn and play and works well to play with teams in larger groups. We found the game designed in a way that no one person or group consistently won, which is nice. Games are short, maybe 20 minutes, and everyone was happy to play several several games in a row. As pointed out in other reviews, we wouldn’t mind more categories, and may add some of our own when time allows. I will probably end up buying another one because this was bought as a gift and alas, like Elvis, has “left the building!”

This is an awesome game for kids and adults! We played just with the adults and had such a good time. We appointed someone to be the judge and just read the cards. This helped out especially when the adults play together. A lot of fun for such a simple game.

This is the game that comes out first at family holiday gatherings. It is easily modified for the younger age group & gets them thinking in ways other than the usual children’s game. My 4 & 6 year old grandchildren love it & I recently purchased it for my daughter-in-law as a birthday gift.
However, the timer is not well constructed & it broke very soon after purchase on both my game & others I have purchased for friends. It is a hard game to find but Amazon has come through on more than one occassion.

This is one game that the kids – and the adults – ask to play agian and again. It’s a must on our family vacations — one of the few things everyone can agree on. Easy and very fun to play. Highly recommended
