Bible Blurt Board Game

Editorial Review
Test your family’s knowledge of the Scriptures with Bible Blurt, the game that challenges you to “Think fast, but blurt faster!” Bible Blurt is a word racing game for the family. Players try to be the first to yell out the answer to a definition and move their piece forward on the board. However, in Bible Blurt the definitions are taken from the New International Version of the Bible instead of the dictionary. Family members will clamor to answer clues such as “The older brother of Aaron” (Moses) and “A learned man of Israel who made copies of the Scriptures” (a scribe). The first player to return to start after circling the board wins the game. The regular rules of play are appropriate for ages 10 and older, and there is a junior version so that kids as young as 7 can join in the fun. –Lisa Whipple

  2. I thought that this game was going to challenge me intellectually. Instead, I got a game that gave definitions for words as simple as ‘honey”. I was looking for something that asked questions directly related to events and people in the bible. This game has very FEW of those types of questions. I am dissatisfied with this purchase.

  3. I have used this game with youth groups and in Sunday school class and I can honestly say that kids love it. Many Bible games are very intimidating because, let’s face it, not many are Bible scholars. Bible Blurt makes the scriptures more accessible. Many definitions are very easy because the object is NOT TO SIMPLY KNOW THE ANSWER, but to BLURT it out before anyone else. That’s the fun part. Most people know what the word “Hungry” means, but will you blurt it out first when you hear, “A strong desire for food…” Also, all the answers are scripturally referenced to tie back to a meaningful passage. For instance, HONEY is referenced with the passage: “The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever. The ordinances of the Lord are sure and altogether righteous. They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb.” (Psalm 19:9-10).

So, there’s good stuff in here and a challenge too. The red side of the game cards is much more challenging than the blue side. Would you be first to blurt out the word if you heard…
The line where the sky and the land or water meet … HORIZON! (Job 26:10 14)
The last letter of the Greek alphabet … OMEGA! (Revelation 1:8)
A long, piece of lumber cut thicker than a board … PLANK! (Matthew 7:3)
The price paid to free a slave or captive … RANSOM! (1 Timothy 2:5-6)

By the way, I am the inventor of this game, so I am biased. Take that into consideration before you buy. Irregardless of my pride in Bible Blurt, I have used it with kids myself and stand behind it.
