We bought this to help our 11 year old learn his state capitals and nicknames. The cards are durable and the images engaging enough that it has really helped. We haven’t used it for the intended purpose in a game format but the educational value has been great. It won’t,however, help you learn where the state is in the US. If your goal is to learn the capital and nickname (plus some fun facts), this game is a good choice.

I looked on the internet for a variety of geography related games, etc for my two children to prepare for the Geography Bee. I found this and ordered it. My children love it. While it is not strong on geography related questions and answers that I would have chose, it is excellent to get the children started learning. I like that it uses the memorization technique as a bonus (you look at the cards for 10 seconds, turn them over, and then answer a questions based on what you remember). We also mix it up a little and add more questions/answers and compare countries, etc that was reviewed in the past. We give each child a certain task like turning the timer, managing the cards, etc., to improve responsibility skills. I also appreciate that the children are learning instead of video games, etc. Also, my husband did not want to play (you know, “I’m to old for this”). However, the game is challenging, and he and I both love them (I also bought the Around the World game and recommend it too) and enjoy the family time together. Family time is important and this is a great game to help getting the family together and learning at the same time.

Our 10 year old grandson opened this Christmas Day and proceeded to quiz all the grown-ups on States. It was a lot of fun for all of us.

Our family really enjoys games like this, and I bought both the USA and the World versions when I saw them in a local toystore. I thought it would be an amazing way for us to help our 8 & 9 year old children learn some important facts rather painlessly. I fully expected that I would, after testing both versions, buy a bunch of them for future birthday party gifts for the kids’ classmates.
However, in our first game we came upon the card for North Carolina and question 8 was asked of my daughter. She answered what was printed on the card front that she had quickly tried to memorize and my husband told her she was only half right, which made her unhappy since she thought she was right. The question asks “Can you name the famous duo?” The answer SHOULD be Orville and Wilbur Wright. However, on the card it says “Orville & Wright”. I hope this is the only error, although it shakes my confidence in both the USA and the unopened World game. We as parents certainly don’t know ALL of the facts that will be presented in the boxes and had expected to learn some things ourselves. I don’t want to check all the facts on each card myself, but I’ll probably have to check anything new that I learn to make sure it is correct.
Shame on The Green Board Game Co. for allowing these games to go out without double-checking all the facts!
