I bought the Chatnow 2 pack for my two daughters (9 and 7 years old). They do work with each other and other Chatnows, but they do not interact with cell phones (I was under the impression they did). So unless everyone your children know have the Chatnow, they are a waste of money and you are better off waiting until your children are old enough for a real cell phone. I wish I had waited.

My 8 year old daughter wanted this so bad so I let her save up her money and purchase it. When she received it, she gave one of the phones to her 9 year old brother. They had fun with it for about 2 hours, then my son accidentally dropped the phone and now it doesn’t work. He didn’t even drop it far and it was on carpet. If this phone can’t withstand being dropped onto a carpeted floor by a 9 year old, it’s worthless. It’s geared toward children. It should be more durable than it is. I feel bad that my daughter was so excited about this and now she’s been let down because it’s a piece of junk.

My best friend is my next door neighbor. We love to call and text eachother (we have cell phones), but at the time, she didn’t have anything NEAR unlimited minutes, so we couldn’t keep in touch as easily.
So, I got us these ChatNows. We were 11 at the time. when we were at our houses or around the neighborhood, we could text and call for free, and we loved it.
The Pros:
Free texting/calling within 2 miles
Easy to use
The cons:
Bad camera
Calling feature needs some work – I wish i were less walkie-talkie-like and more phone-like. Bad reception.
Overall, I’m GLAD I got this product.

I purchased this hard to find item for my granddaughter’s birthday. This is all she talked about. With the help of the seller I was able to make her “birthday wish” come true. She loves it and can now use with her friends who also have this product. Worth every $$$$$$ spent to make a dream come true. Great product. She likes to “talk” on the phone like many of us, and “free” with this product.

This is a great product! My next-door neighbor and I both have cell phones but can never text/call a lot because it costs so much. The solution—ChatNows. The Chatnow is a little clunky and larger than a cell phone, and has an thick antenna. The screen is black-and-white but has a good number of pixels which makes for better pictures (from the built-in camera).
Pros:
-Free texting for up to 2miles away
-Texting pre-sets for the slow typer
-Camera feature and ability to send pictures to other Chatnows. You can also set a picture as someone’s buddy picture (that shows on their buddy profile and during phone conversations)
-You can store buddy’s info on the phone
-Interacts with any Chatnow in a 2mile radius, not just the chatnow it came with
-Chat feature where multiple Chatnows can talk to eachother.
-Calling feature
-Cute emoticons
-Some pre-loaded buddy pictures, ie: princess, teddy bear, alien, etc.
-Ability to save a message as draft. Good for when you are more than two miles away, then you can send it when you are within radius.
-CAN be alternative to cell phone for kids that live close, and free unlimited communication for neighbors.
Cons:
-Hard to get a good picture with camera—have to be in perfect light for it to show up
-Calling feature works like a walkie-talkie. You have to press a “TALK” button to speak, and the clarity of sound is not too good.
-Barely audible. Hard to hear alerts unless on maximum volume, or in a quiet room. No “vibrate” setting.
-Not too good battery life. A full charge lasts about 1&1/2 hours during frequent use
Overall, I would recommend the Chatnow for anyone that lives within two miles, especially those with far-from-unlimited texting plans.
***Have A Terrific Day***
