This is not a bad book, and the content is reasonable. Presentation is satisfactory, but I found it dull in parts, and there are gaps. [...] It would be better if he concentrated on writing books.

The endgame is a bit neglected in this book. As this is one of the more important stages for a player just starting chess, I feel this could be an area to be improved in future.

Sellers indicate a very high marked price for this book. However, the book has a printed price of USD 14 on the back cover. Is this because the book is not in print now?

As my first book in chess (I have read about 15 other books after reading Chess For Juniors and have the same authors Unbeatable Chess Lessons For Juniors and Winning Chess Tournaments for Juniors also and just love the series as it gives you a consistant way to learn chess better then any of the other books I own).
Chess For Juniors will teach you all the very basic rules in a simple and easy way to understand everthing. But I also like the way the strategy is explaned. It makes it so as a 10 year old (my brother who is 15 likes it also) all is clear.
But what I really, really, really (do I over do this “really” stuff? – not really!) like is that it is part of a series that build on what the author has done to make thirysix national chess champions and having taught chess to 170,000 kids (must be a world record – it says so on the cover but I have not asked for proof, it is hard to believe unless it was done every day visiting many schools – well maybe). At any rate as well as I can see I love all of the books in the CHESS FOR JUNIORS series that make chess so easy to understand. I am now rated over 1600 by the United states Chess Fedration after having read all of mr. Snyder’s books. I hope there is more to come!
IF YOU ARE A PARENT OR TEACHER LOOKING TO INTTRODUCE STUDENTS WHO KNOW NOTHING OR ARE NOT MUCH MORE BEYOND THE BASIC STRAGEGY OF CHESS THEN THIS IS THE MOST PERFECT BOOK. It uses a since of humor, it makes things clear, and it has follow up books by the same author that will help your chess kid or team.

If you are new to chess or are just beyond how the pieces move then CHESS FOR JUNIORS is the classic book that will teach you the basic rules and strategies you need to know.
Well Organized and Easy to Understand are the reasons for the success of this book. The use of funny sayings and stories make the book interesting for kids.
