Product Description
First reference to checkers game is found as early as 1600 B.C. in Egyptian paintings and inscriptions at time of Pharohs. In England and Scotland this game is called “draughts” . Checkers is a game for two players, years 5 and up.

This has ten squares on a side? Compared to the eight squares we are used to in the USA. That is the french system of chequers. I’ve seen it played in Hayti with different rules as well as the larger board. Search for “french checkers” and find “Le Jeu de Dames”
I have not actually seen this board, but I wanted people to know that this is for a different system. I am commenting on the earlier review.

This item appears attractive at first sight but after I received it I found that that it has more squares than other checker boards, which is not stated. Also, advertised measurements include the border which reduces the playing area and being that it has 100 squares as compared to 64 for the traditional checker board (as researched on Google), it makes the squares smaller and the handling of the pieces more ackward.
It is a very nice looking and a well done item but not as practical as envisioned. Instructions were not included. Next time I’ll stick to items sold by Amazon.com and not just through them. As well, I will buy “reviewed” items only so as to learn from others as you are learning from me.[[ASIN:B000X1QU5A Wood Checker Set with Glossy Finish].
