I bought this because my 10-year-old son has shown an interest in chess and I thought having the large board always out would encourage us to play frequently. That has turned out to be the case. Success! The table is sturdy and attractive. The drawers hold all the pieces (chess and checkers). The only thing that keeps me from giving the game five stars is that the pieces are a bit sloppily made. From across the room they look great, but when you sit down at the board you notice that many of the cuts are choppy and imprecise. And one of our knights arrived doctored clumsily with plastic wood on top, apparently to fix a hole. Obviously this doesn’t create functional problems. But for well over $100, a higher level of quality on the pieces might reasonably be expected.

I bought this for Christmas as a family gift after my 8 and 9 year old were playing it a local business. It is very well made and the large wooden pieces make it a decorative piece as well. The kids love learning how to play chess with it. Would definately recommend this piece.
