The book is highly recommended if you are a beginner, and have never held a go stone.

This is a very nice introduction to the game of Go!
As a rank beginner who had never heard of Go before reading this book, I was satisfied that it gave me enough of a foundation to play the game on my own. Also, it stimulated interest enough for me to continue my education afterward with other books.
My one complaint is that there is no CD-Rom support material accompanying the book. While making for a less-expensive booklet, it does fall a little short of modern education standards.

This book is the same book as:
Magic of Go: A Complete Introduction to the Game of Go
The content is exactly the same, and only the typeface and cover are updated in this version.
I thought this book was a merely solid introduction to the game, and that it was a bit scattered and disorganized for a complete beginner and a bit basic for a player who has reached the ‘teen kyu level.
