Editorial Review
Author and relationship guru John Gray comes down to Earth with Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus: The Game, a fun and funny boxed “home version” based on the book that has spent so many years on The New York Times Best Sellers list. In the game, it’s Venusians vs. Martians as each team tries to guess how other players will respond to multiple-choice questions in seven categories, including “The Dating Circuit,” “Communication,” and the sex-related “In the Flesh.” Women try to match how a male opponent might answer a query from the Mars deck such as “The hardest thing for a man to admit is that he’s: a) broke b) impotent, or c) aging.” Similarly, the women’s Venus deck poses questions such as “For me, it would be most difficult to ask for a a) date b) loan, or c) promotion” and “The sexiest man wears a) a silk shirt b) a T-shirt, or c) his heart on his sleeve.” Provocative, humorous, and stimulating, Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus: The Game makes for a fun hour of interpersonal interplanetary interplay. –Tony Mason

This can be a great game to pull out at Valentines parties. Great fun!
Amazon Rating: 5 / 5
The thing about this game is that it is designed for couples to get to know their partners better; but what HAPPENS is that couples get together and end up ARGUING, practically throwing dishes, and it’s absolutely hysterical. All you do is laugh, the whole time, and it’s so delicious to listen to your friends arguing, too! Amazing the secrets you can glean! I give this game three thumbs up for being very amusing, unique, and fun to play!

This is a great game for couples. As a younger couple that has been together for 3 1/2 years we really enjoyed it and learned alot about each other. It is great for three couples and can be played over and over.

My husband and I played this game with a couple of friends I was fixing-up. The questions sparked revealing conversations — things you might be cautious talking about early in a relationship — but because it was a game, it was “ok” to talk about those issues. It’s a great way to learn more about the people you’re playing the game with – even if you’ve known them a long time. We played for four hours and could have played longer. If you’re looking for a hysterical game with non-stop laughs, this isn’t the best choice. But if you’re looking for a pleasant evening with friends – with lots of good conversation – I haven’t found a game better than this one.

I’m surprised at the low ratings this game received. Perhaps other buyers are not familiar with the Men/Mars-Women/Venus line of books, with their emphasis on relationships and gender issues. This a very personal game, but in this hurried, harried, hassled world of ours, it’s refreshing to step out of the rush and learn more about the people you love. Playing is easy. We play in teams, men vs women. We always do that when we get together, regardless of the game
A participant reads a question with 3 possible answers S/he records his/her answer. Both teams have three tokens they can use to mark what they think the answer is. You move ahead on the board according to how many tokens your team placed on the correct answer. We play our games very friendly style, so the questions become conversation starters. You might be surprised at what you learn about a friend of 20 years, or you may begin to know someone new. This is a game for ‘nice’ people. Manipulations, lies, and insults will ruin enjoyment. A little bit of teasing or a giggle now and then is okay. You determine how much fun you have. Loosen up. Get close in a world increasingly full of strangers. You have nothing to lose but your sense of isolation.
