5 Reveiws for Star Wars Attack Of The Clones Trading Cards

I have to agree, This isn’t the original. And I am one of those people who don’t like the dice tossed into it. But all in all this one is a little easier to play. The fact that WotC is going to have a Leuge of some sort for it will be nice, But it just isn’t the same. I whould recomend buying it for any SW:CCG player, just because this is the next generation, and us “old schoolers” need to move along with it. As long as they have some expantions with it it should be fine. But what it dose remind me alot of is Young Jedi (you know, that flop game releised by Decipher).

I learned about the TCG from the Official Star Wars TCG Site. I read everything than watched a demo. I checked at the fan store, they were out of stock… It’s a fun, fun game, and it’s the easiest TCG ever! It’s a sinch compared to Pokemon or Digimon, my friends can have my other trading cards.

OK, maybe a bit educational (of Star Wars knowledege). I hate Magic, never really wanted to get into something that complicated. This Star Wars game is easy, fun, and quick to learn. Plus, IT’S STAR WARS!!! Never thought I would enjoy a card game, but I do now.

honestly i would only see the movie twice because
    1)awosome special effects
2)the fact that it was star wars

the acting was weak, and it was like star wars and a disney love movie combined,NOT a good combination.

but this game is great!!!the cards are cool.i espically like that it comes with everthing you need!!!if you think pokemon, yu-gi-oh(or what ever it is),etc is stupid (like me)you still might like this game.

Just to be clear, George Lucas sold the license for a Star Wars card game to Wizards of the Coast (the people that brought you Magic: The Gathering and the American release of Pokemon cards.) The company that had been releasing the Star Wars Collectible Card Game (SW:CCG for short) previously was Decipher. WotC has more marketplace muscle than Decipher (and is owned by Hasbro,) so the decision was clearly a financial one.

There are some hardcore SW:CCG players that are not happy with this WotC SW:TCG new version. SW:TCG is a simpler game to play and an easier game to learn than SW:CCG, but this ease-of-play does come with the detriment of having less depth than its rather involving predecessor. Wizards of the Coast has stated that there are plans for expansion sets to this game that will follow the entire Star Wars story arc from Episode 1 to Episode 6, though WotC has a spotty track record for game support, so it will be interesting to see if these expansions ever occur.

Personally, I think the new game is fun. It is a lot easier to teach a new player how to play than the previous one, and you don’t absolutely need to blow big $$$ on killer cards to compete (yet). The play mechanics do involve dice, which some people don’t like, but it adds a certain randomness that lets games remain unpredictable until the last moment. The fact that the starter kit includes 6 dice, a playmat, counters, and 2 decks makes it a good value for the beginning player.

The Star Wars atmosphere is recreated by having 3 different fields of play: space (where the huge battleships and crafty starfighters engage in battle), ground (home of droids, clones, speeders, and land-based vehicles), and character (you’ll find the important guys like Anakin, Jango Fett, and Yoda here). The first person to gain control of 2 out of the 3 fields of play is the winner. You beat the other player by constructing cards that face off against your opponent’s cards. Some cards have a lot of health, some are fast and can therefore attack first, some have big firepower, or the ability to target another field of play. Mission and Battle cards round out the card type list, acting as Enchantment and Instants in other games. Notice there is no such “Land” or resource equivalent in this game. Build Points can be used in any field of battle and are determined each turn by a die roll.

If you’ve never played a CCG before, this wouldn’t be a bad place to start. Those veterans of Magic who dream card combinations in their sleep might find this one a bit simplistic and lacking in the strategy department, but try it and you’ll find a charming gameplay system that, while not really evoking any real Star Wars specific feel, is still fun to play and exciting enough to keep you interested.
