Sci-fi and fantasy enthusiasts wishing to take game play to a new level will enjoy–and may well become obsessed by–this entertainingly complex game of strategy. Translating the intricate world of The Lord of the Rings to a role-playing game must have been as tricky as translating Tolkien’s trilogy to the screen. Happily, the effort here was successful due in large part to a highly readable 128-page, full-color rulebook. The first 28 pages cover how to play the basic game while the next 100 offer more advanced rules from which players can pick and choose to customize their own battles. Miniature figures are included (8 men of Gondor, 16 elves, and 24 Moria goblins), each with a small plastic base to prop it up. Though the plastic figures are helpful in getting the game started, serious gaming enthusiasts may wish to purchase and customize additional metal figures. –John Moe
Ok i was really enthusiased that a 10 year old actually wrote a review.Thjats is so cool cause i love lotr and it tells me that im not alone,im not the only kid in this world that likes this and to do this!AWESOOOOME!Ok back to my review its actually not a review its a question, im about to buy this game but i need to know what its like,im in it for cool armies and battles marching up against eachtoher…does it have like a accurate map of middle earth or what..info…info…info…is it like risk at all?

This game is great! It’s fun, yet at the same time it makes you think. Almost like chese, but WAY FUNNER!!!!
Whatever it was, it would be super cool because it’s LOTR, but I still think this game is really fun!!!!!!!!!!

I saw this game last christmas and thought it would be mediocre.But how wrong was I?This toy has to be an ultimate.Diehard tolkien fans like myself would be lying if they said this game was shoddy.You can take on the forces of the Dark lord Sauron or try to enslave middle earth as the forces of evil,musturing orcs,goblins,cave trolls,the mighty Balrog and even Sauron himself.Even non tolkien fans will love the game as it puts your strategic skills to the test.With a huge world wide fanbase,you will simply never run out of opponents,whether they be novices or warlords.Trust me,the arty sort of person would adore this game as it puts your painting and modelling skills to the test whilst still being simple enough for the average guy.
Really you must buy and collect the Lord of the Rings battletop game.The only downside to the collection is that it may put a strain on yer budget!

The Lord of the Rings table top war-game box set is an awsome buy for someone just getting started in the game. It gives you plenty of the Middle-Earth warriors to have hours of fun at a very good price. This game is a must for Tolkein enthusiastsand it can be enjoyed buy children as young as ten. This box set is a good buy particullarly for someone who may not know if they are going to like table top war-gaming. That way if thay do not like it that person did not waste too much money.
The only down side to this box set is that the peices are plastic and not metal. This means you will need to be a little extra careful with the peices. War-gamming is a hobby. Anyone with a little extra time would love this game.
No matter what YOU NEED TO GET THIS GAME to just try it out.
