5 Reveiws for Tigris & Euphrates

  1. Tigris and Euphrates is a keeper in my game collection. It is easy for new players to learn and get up to speed on the deviousness of the game. The game is difficult to describe, however the maneuvering and fluidity of the power structure of the game, will turn a seeming early win to a defeat. After you learn the ropes, it’s a good game to play about every six months or so.

  2. It’s the same company, even almost the same box, but the whole concept is different. There are real battles, an ever-changing board, and a scoring system that says that the winner of the game is not simply the one with the most points.

The rules are a bit complicated to begin with, but once you are used to how each piece interacts with the board, the pace of the game quickens.

Can be played 2-4 player, but 2-player gets one-sided quickly (though it can be a good teaching tool). I think this is a perfect 3-player game, as I still prefer Settlers with 4.

  3. An excellent 3-4 player abstract strategy game with a poker-like flavor to conflict resolution, enough chance to keep all the players on their toes, but rarely is luck alone significant in the final outcome.

  4. the rob says:

This is a classic strategy game with great depth, but I wouldn’t recommend it for new gamers or anyone looking for a casual gaming experience. Poor decision making can kill a game and quickly make it “not fun”.

If you’re the type of gamer that thrives on analysis paralysis, this game is for you. There’s a lot of rich decision making in this game if you’re looking for it.

  5. I absolutely loved playing this with my friends. Its a fun game that does not require any dice rolls or cards. My friends did not enjoy it too much because they felt it can become complicated at times, but that did not stop me from loving it.
