Wildcraft! An Herbal Adventure Game is a cooperative board game that teaches edible and medicinal Plants. Wildcraft! teaches 25 important edible and medicinal plants and their uses in mostly first aid situations. (Wildcrafting is the harvesting of wild plants).
Players learn about plants by connecting the icon on the challenge or trouble cards with the icons on the plant cards. If a player has a burdock card in their herb basket and draws a hungry card, then the player can turn the cards in and move to the next rest space.
Though it is a cooperative game, there is plenty of strategy and drama as players travel up the mountain to the Huckleberry Patch and back to Grandmas before nightfall. The only way to get back safely is to help each other out. However, its ok if you dont make it. Grandma will come and get you.

Like another review, this is a lot like Candy Land, except everyone has to work together to make it home to Grandma’s house before the sun goes down. I appreciate the cooperative aspect (sharing “remedy” herbs for ailments) while still keeping a sense of competition (against time). I wish the game had some basic literature included on HOW to use the plants to heal the ailments. So in a way, the game is an advertisement for the members-only portion of their website and their other products available on-line. Slick marketing, guys!
What I really don’t like is the environmentalist worldview of the story. From looking at some of their other stuff, they have an almost native American worship of the planet sense of “the world is our mother, the animals are our brothers”. If that’s your kind of thing, you will absolutely love this game. For all others, be forewarned of the indoctrination of your children.

I bought this game for my girls last year for christmas and they love it. It is very fun and educational. They really like the story that you can find on the website that goes along with the game. As a parent I have learned some things also. The cards that go with the game can also be used for identifying plants. A good thing for the whole family to enjoy.

This game was provided to my son as a gift from a close friend. He is four years old and I am very impressed how much he has learned and the best part is that it is always one of the first games that he choses to play at night during game time. My son knows most all of the herbs in the game now by site and can quickly match them to the problem cards. I find him regularly knowing what herbs he needs to look for to solve his problems in the game with out having to refer to the pictures. I love this game and even the adults in our family enjoy playing.
