An extremely instruvtive book teaching how to serve mate in the endgame. I found it very helpful as now I know how to steer the endgame. My only complain is that when discussing a lone king versus a king and two knights, Seirawan simply states checkmate is impossible without cooperation. I would have liked to see it played out by a GM as proof.

For a single book that tries to cover the endgame this does a ok job. I am a good player for my age. and I feel that studing endgames is very important. The book builds on lessons which is good. The book does not cover some very important endgames that I have seen and therefor it leaves out important stuff.
I like the endgame book called BASIC CHESS ENDINGS much better because it covers a lot more.

I like Yasser’s style. It’s a very informative book. My only problem with this book is the content is thin. Other than that, it’s a good book.

I’m up to chapter six knight endings. So far I like Bishop endings the best. I’ve only got three books counting Winning Chess Endings. The other ones are More Chessersices: Checkmate!, and A New Era. I read at least 1/3 of a chapter a day but sometimes more or less. Rook and Pawn vs. Rook wasn’t too exiting but it was still great. Bishop’s of opposite color is my favorite Because it’s drawish and when ever Yasser Makes a Diagram you almost never know if the person extra pawn or pawns will win. Queen endings was not to mention at least 97% percent because it has a lot of tricks with postions that that looks drawish.
Knight endings are 98% to me which is getting so close to Bishop endings which is 100% to me. King and Pawn endings not too good to me it’s 94%. Basic Mates is very good same as knight endings 98% I loved the King and two Bishops vs. King.
From 1 to 10 stars:
Basic Mates ********* 9 stars
King and pawn endings ******** 8 stars
Queen and Pawn endings ******** 8 stars
Rook endings ********** 10 stars
Bishop endings ********** 10 stars
Knight endings ********** 10 stars
Bishop vs. knight ???
Rook vs. Minor Pieces ???

By Joseph Marcopolus, Age 10: I am in the 130′s 140′s pages. The Most pages for one day is probalbly 20. This book is incredible!
1. For me it doesn’t have too much reading,
2. it is Algabrec Notation,
3. It doesn’t have too many moves.
